A family home. A stretch of coast. A vineyard from a wedding weekend. A view from a porch that's no longer there.
I take a small number of commissions each year — usually four or five. Each one is painted to the same standard as my gallery work: on location when possible, in oil, with the same brushwork and color sense that shows up in every piece I make.
How it works
01
Tell me about the place
Email or call with a brief description — a location, a memory, why it matters. Photos welcome but not required. I'll let you know within a few days if it's something I can take on.
02
Plan the painting
We agree on size, framing, and timing. Half down to start, balance on delivery. I'll send you progress photos at the half-way point — but no committee meetings. The painting is mine to make.
03
On location, in oil
If the subject is reachable I paint on site. If it's a memory or out of state, I work from photos and notes you provide. Either way you receive a one-of-one original, signed and shipped fully insured.

What past commissions have been
- A childhood home in the California foothills — commissioned by adult children for their parents' 50th anniversary
- A favourite painting spot in Napa, painted at first light for a vineyard owner
- A coffee-shop view in Bellingham, WA, from a woman who'd discovered my work there years earlier
- A piece of the East Coast harbor a collector grew up sailing
